She's a Greedy Eater

So Dr. Jarriel is the doctor on rounds this week. He's really nice. He started her on partial feeds today at 11 mL at 11 a.m. The goal is to slowly work her back up on her feeds and wean her off of the TPN. I fed her at 2 p.m. and Elizabeth put 15 mL in her bottle and she finished it in 3 minutes. It's not about speed anymore as it was before. Now it's about letting her body gradually adjust to digesting food again, since she went a full day with nothing in her tummy. After she is able to handle ad lib feedings again, we will re-assess the idea of going home.

Dr. Jarriel said they do this slowly as to not give them any problems with digestion and spitting up, etc. He said, Annie will take it slow because she is a "greedy eater." How funny! I told him, a greedy eater, hard to imagine that she was stuck on 1 bottle taking a half hour to do it! HA!

Love,

Andrea
