Annie did really well on her ultrasound today! The radiologist determined that her arterial valve has a tiny opening and is probably on its way to closing, which is what we want. The nurse practitioner said that she is scheduled to get her ventilator (breathing tube) taken out tonight, and she'll be breathing on her own. She will have a CPAP mask put on to replace the breathing tube. The CPAP is only a mask that regulates the pressure in her lungs, but she will be breathing on her own without a tube in her lungs.
As long as she does well tonight, she is scheduled to have a PICC line ran tomorrow so she can be fed through that instead of through the umbilical cord. Sometime in the next few days, she will have a follow-up ultrasound to ensure the valve is completely closed. When we get that confirmation, she will start to be fed mommy's breastmilk!
Once the CPAP mask and PICC line are done, which should be tomorrow, we will finally have the opportunity to hold her. Mommy and Daddy are so excited! She's come a long way in the past 3 days! Please keep praying for Annie. She is such a strong little girl and I know all of your prayers and ours are helping her so much. It's still a long road home, but she has taken a big step today. We are so proud of her.
Love,
John, Andrea & Annie

Praise God for holding her in His loving hands and healing that hurt. I will continue to pray faithfully as so many are doing out there. There is no doubt in my mind of the power of Prayer, and that we are seeing modern day miracles occuring here.
