I went to see Annie at 11 am today and was able to hold her for.....wait for it.....2 hours!! She was 100% on her oxygen and just so relaxed. She would stretch and readjust herself and make little sweet noises. It was heavenly. I told her Daddy that it was like everything in time stands still when I am able to hold her like that. It's like every worry disappears and my world just revolves around her. I love the feeling of knowing that each day she is closer to being home! Since we have been in NICU II, I have seen 3 babies discharged while I was visiting Annie. It's so nice to see the happy faces on the Mommy's (and Daddy's) because they are getting to take their babies home. It makes me yearn for the day when we are able to make a trip to the hospital to see her and take her with us.
A couple of updates:
*up to 26 mL on her feedings (first one at 2:00pm) ALMOST AN OUNCE! (1 oz. = 30 mL)
*trying to bottlefeed again on Monday (if all goes well and as planned, she will start one feeding a day on the bottle)
*they will not do another head ultrasound until she is about to go home
*she should be getting checked for ROP (retinopathy of prematurity) Monday or within the next 2 weeks after that (Please pray that this goes well!)
Thanks for all the love and support!
Love,
John, Andrea & Annie
